The NSW government will support the new Hakoah White City with a $1 million grant to Sydney Maccabi Tennis Club under its Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund.

“This grant will allow the Sydney Maccabi Tennis Club to expand its White City tennis facilities providing more modern, inclusive and accessible facilities for the community,” Member for Vaucluse Gabrielle Upton said.

“Sydney Maccabi Tennis Club is one of the largest junior sporting development programs in NSW and this funding will ensure young athletes have safe, new sporting facilities to develop their skills and have fun.”

Sydney Maccabi Tennis Club president Jeremy Fisher thanked Upton and the NSW government “for your support in helping us achieve our vision of connecting our local community through sport”.

“The redevelopment of the tennis facilities will offer the community nine floodlit tennis courts, four mini tennis courts, undercover parking and state of the art facilities for all to enjoy,” he said.

“The club plays an important role in connecting our community through sport. The club has always welcomed the entire local community and the redevelopment will provide a benefit to the local community through the enhancement of the club’s programs, social tennis, junior programs and more.”

Minister for Tourism and Sport Stuart Ayres said the fund “is enabling people of all ages and abilities to get on the court and enjoy the benefits that sport offers”.

Hakoah signed a construction agreement last month to begin the White City development, with president Steven Lowy telling The AJN, “The finish line is in sight.”

It is due for completion in late 2023 or early 2024.
