A rich array of traditional and modern Jewish foods from around the world will be showcased at this year’s Melbourne Jewish Food Festival, proudly presented by the Kadimah Jewish Cultural Centre on Sunday, September 15 at the Glen Eira Town Hall.

The festival, curated by Dani Valent, will feature a diverse range of Jewish chefs and food vendors.

With a list of headliners, the likes of Rita Erlich, Alice Zaslavsky, Jacky Magid from Charlie’s Cookies, chef Ellie Bouhadana and Zelda Bakery’s Maaryasha Werdiger, there is sure to be a lot to tempt the taste buds.

Zaslavsky is speaking about vegetables in Jewish cuisine, highlighting their significance in both Ashkenazi and Sephardi cooking due to kashrut laws.

Restaurant critic and food writer Erlich will demonstrate an updated version of Jewish pickled salmon from a late 18th-century English cookbook.

Home bakers are invited to submit their best Rosh Hashanah honey cake for a chance to win a Chef’s Hat baking hamper worth $500.

Delia Baron and Ronnit Hoppe, drawing on their very popular Better Together Kitchen recipe book series, will demonstrate their culinary expertise.

Monash University’s Professor Rebecca Margolis will speak about the history of Jewish food.

A food market, with stalls offering meals, snacks and samples, as well as food products, cooking supplies, a cookbook pop-up shop and much more will run throughout the day.

The festival runs from 9am to 3pm, with the food market continuing until 4pm.

Cost: $60/$55 for Kadimah members. Tickets: trybooking.com/CUBFV; kadimah.org.au.

Entry to the event is ticketed from 9.30am-2.30pm. Free entry after 2.30pm.
