Community food rescue and relief organisation, FoodFilled, has reached an incredible milestone – one million meals redistributed to families experiencing food insecurity across Melbourne.

What began as an idea to rescue surplus food that would otherwise go to landfill, has grown into a movement.

Since 2018, FoodFilled has redirected over 500,000 kilograms of surplus food, collected by more than 1500 volunteers, and distributed through 177 local food relief agencies.

“Reaching this milestone is exciting, but more importantly, it’s a reflection of the incredible generosity and commitment of our community and it symbolises an impact felt by so many people,” said Rob Miller, CEO of FoodFilled.

“Every volunteer, donor and partner has played a role. It’s a testament to the community.”
