A familiar jingle

'We needed a song that evoked strong feelings of celebration, togetherness and excitement, and whenever you hear Hava Nagila you get that in spades'.

INTERNET users who have seen a recent online video ad for Cancer Council NSW may have noticed the music is familiar – it’s none other than a passage from Hava Nagila.

Matt Gilmour, executive creative director of Archibald/Williams, with whom Cancer Council NSW worked on the campaign, said, “For our commercial to draw people in, we needed a song that evoked strong feelings of celebration, togetherness and excitement, and whenever you hear Hava Nagila you get that in spades.”

Cancer Council NSW director of marketing and fundraising Lyndsey Rice said the charity has seen a significant drop in income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’re so grateful to anyone who donates to this campaign, as you’re helping cancer patients when they need it most,” she said.
