LOVE is in the air at Young Jewish Professionals (YJP) as they launch a new Soul Mates course.

Geared towards both singles and young married couples, the course aims to encourage and foster conversations about dating, marriage, Jewish marriage values, as well as the challenges in this arena.

Head facilitator Rabbi Yossi Wolf said, “In my work, I come across many young people who are either looking for a partner, have recently found a partner, or are curious about Judaism’s insights on marriage and relationships. Most people I meet don’t doubt that Judaism celebrates family life, but they want to know more.”

YJP has been working with single people for the last 10 years and already has a team of eight matchmakers on staff. These matchmakers have been successfully assisting young people find that special person, and they currently have more than 160 people in their database.

YJP Melbourne Matchmaking committee member Bianca Kaplan told The AJN, “YJP Matchmaking has enabled tens of Melbourne Jews, especially throughout COVID lockdowns, to meet other Jewish people who they wouldn’t have met otherwise. In just over a year of operation, we’ve introduced dozens of people to one another and help set up tens of dates. We continue to grow our database to assist those in finding their soulmate.”

In 2022, YJP plans to fine tune their matchmaking process with more effective programs, as well as to reach out to those who have already found love and assist them in navigating marriage.

The Soul Mates course is starting on March 30 and will be offered both face to face and online. It will run fortnightly for six weeks, and students will be given a student book full of learning material and exercises.

Rabbi Wolf told The AJN, “I’m looking forward to facilitating the course and to utilising it as a platform for honest, constructive conversation, to enrich our community’s perspective on marriage and partnership.”
