CHALLAH for the Soul is a grass roots initiative centred around building a new mikvah by women for women in the new Chabad of Bondi synagogue in Wellington Street.

The new mikvah is envisioned to be a place of beauty and serenity – and importantly a safe space where woman can uplift their spirituality and ground themselves in beautiful surroundings.

A dynamic mikvah committee has been set up, each member with skills that they have generously donated to bring the mitzvah and miracles of the mikvah into the everyday lives of the community and reignite the spiritual Jewish spark.

To help raise funds to build the mikvah at Chabad of Bondi, Challah for the Soul is encouraging all women (and men) to bake challah with their families and loved ones for Shabbat.

Challah for the Soul sells challah baking kits that can be delivered on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.

Gift vouchers and one-off challah kits are also available.

“There is nothing quite like the smell of fresh-baked challah in the oven filling the home as the Sabbath approaches,” a Challah for the Soul spokesperson said.

At the centre of Challah for The Soul is the tenet of Dor Va Dor, Generation to Generation. Through performing the rituals of challah baking and being part of the mikvah tradition, each person can connect spiritually and physically to their ancestors.
