‘A moment to pause and reflect’
I want to reaffirm, on behalf of the Coalition, our enduring commitment to the security and flourishing of Australia's Jewish community
As Jewish families across Australia gather to welcome Rosh Hashanah, I extend my warmest wishes for a prosperous and joyous new year.
Rosh Hashanah is a moment to pause and reflect, to look back on the year that has passed and to look forward with hope and determination to the year ahead. It is a time for faith, for family and for community.
I was privileged to join recently with a number of parliamentary colleagues from across parties and the crossbench in celebrating Rosh Hashanah at an event in Canberra. We set aside our political differences to mark this occasion, showing the power of Rosh Hashanah to unite us in our common humanity and the care we have for our communities.
In recent times, Jewish Australians have endured challenges no community should ever face.
Antisemitism must never be part of Australia’s story. To stand against it is to stand for the values that make our nation strong: respect, tolerance, and the freedom to practise one’s faith without fear.
