PERSONALISED CARE

A passion for patient care

“I guess what I’m trying to say is that I think I get it … Even if it’s not the same set of circumstances, and I might not get it straight away, but I will always try, and I will always think until I do.”

“I think I like being a GP as much as I do because I can see a bit of myself in my patients. Because, it’s personal, right?

“I am the concerned family member that will tag along to medical appointments to ask questions, support and advocate.

“I am the partner who will tell my better half that we should eat more salad … while helping myself to another serving of tiramisu, and then do an extra set at the gym the next day because I think it’ll balance out.

“I will forget to take my iron tablet – or just straight up not take it because it gives me a belly ache – and wonder why I still feel tired.

“I am the cancer survivor who will be a little paranoid and seek reassurance from my GP over a lump that is probably fine but I don’t know … what do you think?

“I am the friend who will sob hysterically because my best friend had a miscarriage, and it’s just not fair.

“I am the granddaughter who knows that quality of life is the most important thing, but I still don’t want you to go.

“I am the child of ageing parents who manage chronic health issues … But in saying that, I am really proud of you for prioritising your health and wellbeing over everyone else’s for once!

“I worry about what kind of parent I will be; if I will be one at all, or if I even want to be one … But in any case, hope that I’m enough.

“I guess what I’m trying to say is that I think I get it … Even if it’s not the same set of circumstances, and I might not get it straight away, but I will always try, and I will always think until I do.”

The Emeline Medical Centre is located at 138 Glenferrie Rd, Malvern. For more information, call 03 9088 4133 or visit emeline.com.au.
