SOUTH African Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein will headline a celebrity line-up of guests at this year’s Jewish House gala.

Being held online due to the pandemic, “Another Night in with Jewish House” will feature a keynote address from Rabbi Goldstein, performances from Australian musician Ben Lee and entertainment from New York Comedian MODI.

The evening’s MC is Kathryn Eisman, a two-time Emmy Award nominated television journalist, host and producer.

Jewish House CEO Rabbi Mendel Kastel, who will also provide an update on the organisation’s frontline response to COVID-19, called on the community “to come together to enjoy a wonderful evening with entertainment and joy on the back-end of extended COVID lockdowns and isolation”.

“With such a range of speakers and entertainers, Another Night in with Jewish House is likely to not just engage and help support Jewish House to continue to change lives in 2022, but will give community members the opportunity to come together at watch parties, entertain friends and family, and tune in for an inspiring one-hour evening,” he said.

The gala event will also highlight stories about those assisted by Jewish House over the past 12 months, while Rabbi Kastel, a commissioner with the Australian National Mental Health Commission, will share valuable insights on the issues facing marginalised communities.

The event includes a silent auction and raffle with experiences, luxury items, art, jewellery, and holidays on offer.

Funds raised on the night will go towards Jewish House’s crisis services in 2022 – providing vulnerable people with access to crisis and temporary accommodation, food, in-house psychology and counselling services, online life skills and resilience-building workshops, and JH Kids children’s programs.

Donations will also help communities reeling specifically from the flow-on effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event will be on December 9 at 8pm.
