ON behalf of the Australian Labor Party, I wish readers of The Australian Jewish News and all members of the Australian Jewish community a very happy Chanukah.
May your homes and synagogues be filled with the warm glow of your menorahs during this festival of light.
It is a time of celebration and gratitude, a time of family and giving. Like so many Jewish holidays, it is also a time to reflect on a time when Jewish people faced not only persecution, but an existential threat just for being Jewish.
I send my deepest gratitude to the Australian Jewish community for the contribution you have made to the great Australian story that is our multicultural society.
You have played such an integral role in shaping our nation into what it is today that an Australia without you is simply unimaginable.
