Bialik College said it was immensely proud of Jesse Wrobel, Hannah Minc and Segev Glasman for being recognised in the 2024 Premier’s VCE Awards.

Principal Jeremy Stowe-Lindner said, “These accolades are a testament not only to their academic excellence in mathematics, French and Hebrew, but also to their commitment, resilience and the deep support of their families and teachers.

“At Bialik College, we nurture intellectual curiosity and personal integrity – values these students embody so strongly. Their achievements inspire our entire community, and it was a pleasure and an honour for me to witness the presentation of their awards at the ceremony.”

Jesse Wrobel won the Premier’s Award for General Mathematics and Specialist Mathematics and told The AJN, “I was very honoured and grateful to hear the news of my awards. It was a huge relief to see the many hours and sacrifices pay off. I most certainly could not have won them without help from the incredibly passionate maths department at Bialik and specifically the help of Ms Brichko and Ms Cui.”

Wrobel is studying engineering commerce at Monash university on a scholarship and will be taking second semester off to travel around Europe and Israel.

Hannah Minc won the Premier’s Award for French and remarked, “I feel so grateful to have received this award. It has only cemented my love of French and I intend on continuing to pursue it henceforth.”

She is studying a double degree in engineering and science at the University of New South Wales.

Segev Glasman won the Premier’s Award for Hebrew and said he was very honoured to receive the award and “glad to see that the hard work has paid off”.

Glasman added, “It wouldn’t have been possible without Anat Tobias and the college’s support. As a proud Israeli, it means a lot to me that the language continues to thrive and develop.”

He is currently in year 12 and hopes to study medicine next year.
