Abe celebrates 100
The well-known Goldberg is a Holocaust survivor and anti-hate advocate.

Four hundred people filled the Glen Eira Town Hall auditorium in Melbourne on Sunday, October 6 to celebrate Abram Goldberg’s one hundredth birthday.
The well-known Goldberg is a Holocaust survivor and anti-hate advocate.
He has lived and breathed the promise “do everything humanly possible to survive and tell people what happened here” that he made to his mother just before she died the day they arrived at the Auschwitz death camp.
Goldberg was a founding member of the Melbourne Holocaust Museum (MHM) where he has spent countless hours talking to school groups about the Holocaust.
Strength of Hope, his life story, was published in 2020 and is now available in many languages.
Grandchildren Daniel and Nastassja hosted the celebration with his great granddaughter Sienna sitting on stage by his side. His son Charlie and daughter Helen read a touching speech.
Family members travelled from Israel, Sweden, Queensland and NSW to attend the event.
When students from the Sholem Aleichem College joined Goldberg on stage to sing a medley of Yiddish songs, he sang along with them.
He was thrilled to receive a letter from King Charles and the Prime Minister.
In his thank you speech he said, “Let us make this world a better place for future generations … I have met so many people over my years on this planet.
“I am fortunate, I have so many friends and family who I have known for years; others are much shorter time, but I value each and every one in my life.”
