"I'm looking forward to building up a strong network, recruiting and training the next generation of Israel advocates down under and connecting individuals and organisations to empower the community to stand strong for Israel and the Jewish people."

International Israel education organisation, StandWithUs has officially commenced operating in Australia.

Heading up the office in Sydney is national youth and education manager Adam Marks (pictured).

As a grandchild of a Holocaust survivor and through his involvement in Bnei Akiva, Marks inherited a deep interest in combating antisemitism as well as a love for Zionism.

“It was an easy decision to be the first representative of StandWithUs Australia,” Marks said.

“I’m looking forward to building up a strong network, recruiting and training the next generation of Israel advocates down under and connecting individuals and organisations to empower the community to stand strong for Israel and the Jewish people.”

In partnership with Australasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS), Marks will oversee the launch of the Emerson Fellowship, StandWithUs’s signature campus program.

Established in 2007, the prestigious one-year program trains and empowers student leaders at universities worldwide to educate about Israel, fight antisemitism and inspire their peers through dynamic programs, discussions and campaigns. Fellows will connect with a global community of student leaders to exchange ideas and share best practices.

“We are excited to welcome Adam who will spearhead our efforts in the region and fulfil our mission of supporting Israel through education and fighting antisemitism,” StandWithUs CEO Roz Rothstein said.

Executive director of StandWithUs Israel Michael Dickson commented, “Our expansion into Australia could not have come at a more opportune time and we have had many requests – especially from students – to grow our presence on the ground.

“Together, we will make a difference.”

StandWithUs has already worked with Australian audiences, running programs for students and partnering with local organisations, including AUJS, the Zionist Federation of Australia, Zionist Council of NSW, Israel by Choice (IBC), Bnei Akiva, Y2i–Youth2Israel, Betar, Hineni and others.

Applications for the Emerson Fellowship (Victoria and NSW) are open until October 16.
