AJAX juniors celebrate 2022 season in style

There was a lot to celebrate at a well-attended annual presentation night at St Kilda’s National Theatre last Sunday, as AJAX Junior Footy Club announced its award winners in recognition of an amazing 2022 season.

Following the disruptions of 2020 and 2021, everyone was excited to be back in person.

Hosted by Rod Nirens and Mel Raleigh, it was an opportunity to celebrate a successful 2022 in style.

Club president Jamie Davis thanked all players, parents, committee members, volunteers, and sponsors for their commitment throughout the year.

The award winners are: (Female Club Champion) Tahlia Herman, (Male Club Champion) Jethro Gunn, (Most Improved) Josh Nirens, (Most Courageous) Jesse Wrobel, (Outstanding Achievement) Georgia Zuchowski and Ethan Lakman, (Best Coaches) Bronson Ritterman and Jordan Levy, (Best Team Manager) Danny Degen, (Best Administrator) Malcolm Noriskin, (President’s Award) Rod Nirens, (Outstanding Service) Rob Greenberg, (Passion and Commitment) David Gelbart.

Several AJAX teams made the South Metro Junior Football League semi-finals in 2022, one team made the prelim finals, the club’s U13 boys’ division 5 Stars team won a premiership, and the Comets U12 girls’ division 1 side finished runners-up.

In more great junior footy news for the club this week, five AJAX players were named in the Sandringham Dragons Under-16 2023 pre-season squad: Jethro Gunn, Eiden Pitt, Ethan Lakman, Phoenix Janover, and Jake Mehl.

Congratulations also to Charlie Rozenes, for earning selection in the Dragons’ 2023 U18 pre-season squad.
