In a gritty, round 4 away match against a determined Power House side, AJAX’s women’s team gave it their all in every quarter to hold on for a 2.3 (15) to 1.2 (8) win.

A memorable first goal to debutant Tia Blum got the Jackettes off to a good start, but a goal to Power House tied things up at 7-all at three-quarter time.

Having belief in themselves –their coach’s main pre-game message – saw the Jackettes save their best quarter for last.

Annelise Caplan booted a crucial goal, and resolute defence led by Justine Gabriel, Daniella Abraham, and Hayley Mrocki, proved the difference.

The AJAX women will host La Trobe Uni from 9.20am this Saturday at Lindsay Hassett Oval.

In men’s Premier B first grade footy, AJAX fought back hard after a poor first quarter away at De La Salle, but eventually lost by 18 points.

Down 7-31, the Jackas won the second quarter 22-4, but lost the last two quarters by 6 points.

Jackas goals were scored by Jake Lew (3), Kane Nissenbaum (3), Toby Sheezel (2), Brandon Joel, and Brodie Mond.

They will host Williamstown-CYMS this Saturday from 2pm in their first home game of the year at Gary Smorgon Oval.
