Amy Schumer calls out Hollywood
"I never thought that I was going to do anything like that. Like when I would hear liposuction I was just like, that's so crazy to me, and I would say that I'm not ever going to do anything …"
Comedian Amy Schumer has never shied away from sharing her opinion, or being honest about her life. And her weight loss journey has been no exception, recently opening up about taking type-2 diabetes drug Ozempic for weight loss and why she stopped.
Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Schumer revealed that she had tried it, but the side effects were too much.
“I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son,” she revealed.
She also took a moment to call out celebrities who have been lying about taking the diabetic drug. “Everyone has been lying saying, ‘Oh smaller portions.’ Like shut the f*** up,” she joked. “You are on Ozempic or one of those things or you got work done. Just stop. Be real with the people. When I got lipo, I said I got lipo.” She was referring to getting liposuction in January 2022. Schumer told Chelsea Handler that she never thought she would undergo the procedure but she was feeling really good.
“I never thought that I was going to do anything like that. Like when I would hear liposuction I was just like, that’s so crazy to me, and I would say that I’m not ever going to do anything … Cut to turning 40 after having a C-section,” she said. “I just wanted to say that, because if anybody sees me in pictures or anything and they’re like, she looks thinner, and whatever: it’s because I had a surgery. It’s too hard, and I just want to be real about it.”
Ozempic has been used by thousands of people around the world who don’t have diabetes to aid in weight loss. It works by mimicking one of the hormones that helps regulate appetite. The craze has become so bad that many people who suffer from diabetes are struggling to access the medication.
