SWIMMING

Anne aces it

Anne Besser in Maryborough, Queensland.

ANNE Besser had an amazing swim meet last Saturday at the 2021 Maryborough Masters Games held in Queensland’s Fraser Coast, tying for second place overall in the women’s 75-79 age category.

“I decided to race in all four backstroke distance races – maybe to get the edge – and also the 100 free, to be in the mix for an overall placing,” Besser said.

She ended up coming first in the the 400, 200 and 100 backstroke races, and also won the 100 free. In the 50 backstroke, she came second.

The Sydneysider – currently based in Queensland – remains as passionate as ever about swimming, and was thrilled by her results.

“I am stoked, because it’s my best result ever in one day at a masters swimming meet,” Besser said.

“You’ve just gotta keep pushing the envelope!”
