Art is all part of hotel’s design
Modern design, comfort and an impressive range of artworks are among the features of Melbourne’s new Hannah St Hotel.
Art is a prominent feature of Melbourne’s new Hannah St Hotel, from the moment you enter the triangular Southbank building and come face to face with an oversized sculpture by Justene Williams titled Mirror Sheila.
A few metres away at reception, where guests are welcomed with smiles and a refreshing mocktail, the ceiling is adorned with a neon installation introducing artist Jazz Money’s poem, These Infinite Beginnings, which continues its poetry in the corridors of other floors.
The art gallery theme in the hotel’s public spaces, suites and rooms is part of the design of the boutique Hannah St Hotel which opened last December as the newest member of the Collection by TFE Hotels alongside The Eve Hotel in Sydney, The Calile in Brisbane and The Hotel Britomart in Auckland, New Zealand.
Many of the Hannah St Hotel’s 188 rooms and suites are home to the playful artworks of internationally-acclaimed photographer Jo Duck that feature her creative characters.
Flack Studio was responsible for the interior design of the hotel that occupies the first 10 floors of the 65-storey $150 million Queensbridge Building development rising above Kings Way near Crown Casino.
There are multiple places for guests to relax in a casual atmosphere. The main dining spot is Coupette, a modern European bistro on street level with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking busy Southbank. It is open for breakfast at 7am and continues through to long lunches, dinner and late-night drinks at the bar.
Step through the lobby to Bar Hannah or Carriage Lounge tucked in corners of the building, or wander up to The Terrace Lounge on the 10th floor that offers an indoor or sheltered open-air refuge to enjoy drinks, snacks and city views.
