AUJS honoured by WUJS

The Australasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS) has been honoured with the Union of the Year Award at the 2025 World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) Congress.
The award recognised AUJS for its increased engagement, political advocacy, particularly during Senate and parliamentary inquiries, and fostering community and social cohesion on campus.
The Congress brings over 100 Jewish student leaders from over 40 countries each year, from Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, Australasia and Israel. This year, AUJS proudly brought the largest delegation to the conference, with 16 students representing Australia and New Zealand.
AUJS shared the news on Instagram, writing, “This recognition is a testament to the resilience and dedication of our leaders who have stood tall in the face of antisemitism on our campuses, advocating for Jewish students and fostering a loving community. Having our efforts acknowledged on the global stage with our Leadership Development Program cohort is an incredible honour and a reminder of the impact we’ve made – and the work that lies ahead to ensure inclusive campuses for all.”
AUJS president Noah Loven said the award would not have been possible without the local leaders, telling The AJN that during an immensely challenging year, “they have worked tirelessly to advocate for Jewish students and foster a strong, supportive community on campus. I can’t wait to see the amazing work AUJS will achieve in 2025.”
This year’s WUJS Congress (held yearly in Israel) celebrated 100 years of the World Union of Jewish Students. It was initially planned in Israel but was relocated to Berlin due to the ongoing war.
The event brought together Jewish student unions and leaders from around the globe to commemorate a century of Jewish student activism and address key challenges facing Jewish communities on campus, particularly since October 7, 2023.
