Australian family honoured at Nir Oz dedication

An Australian family has been recognised at Kibbutz Nir Oz for its contribution to rebuilding the community devastated on October 7, at a ceremony attended by Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
The Vidor Family Building in Memory of Ervin Vidor was dedicated on Monday as part of Binah Balev, a new artificial intelligence and innovation centre. Several speakers said it was believed to be the first ceremony at Nir Oz since October 7 to mark something new.
About 200 guests attended, among them hostage survivors Gadi Moses and Yocheved Lifshitz, members of the Nir Oz community and representatives of organisations involved in rebuilding the region. Herzog was accompanied by First Lady Michal Herzog.
Binah Balev has been established in two former kindergarten buildings that were directly affected on October 7, and has been converted into a centre for education, artificial intelligence, technology and entrepreneurship.
“Nir Oz will once again become a symbol of rebirth, revival, and rebuilding,” Herzog said. “The place that experienced hell will return to being a paradise.”
