Parisian architect Stephanie Ifrah founded her accessories brand The Rose in France in 2016.

Ifrah and her children emigrated to Australia in 2017 due to the rise in antisemitism. She re-launched The Rose in Melbourne in 2022 after achieving permanent residency.

“Im proud to witness the growth of a thriving community that is forming around my brand,” she told The AJN.

An architect since 1998, Ifrah mixes form and function, colour and texture, to create in each product an aesthetic shock and an emotional journey, according to her website.

Ifrah describes The Rose, named after the Bette Midler film, as “Synonymous in a story with romance and unfolding mystery, that invites you to travel; a bag, a jewel or any object transports you to another place, another time. Follow it, follow your desire.”

She designs each piece simply by drawing, with inspiration as part of the process of drawing.

“What is really funny is that what I design is never what I expected.

“Some people have a plan, and other people just have their flow, that is how it works for me.”

Everything is handmade in small batches.

The leather used for bags comes from the surpluses of luxury houses. The glasses are made in a family factory in Italy. The jewels are made in French factories in Thailand and soon in Italy.

“We make beautiful accessories for people who want to remain independent,” Ifrah says.

“Customers can choose the colour of a bag, ring and even give their opinion and wishes for the next production.

“The accessory that cannot be found elsewhere, can be found here and at the fairest possible price.

“The Rose allows each link in the chain to work in the shadows until the object of your dreams arrives at your door.”

When Ifrah creates her accessories she is as kind as possible to the planet. What her customers buy is a work of art, an invisible thread between the creator and the customer.
