Beyond 2000: A decade of graduates
MANY will remember the year 2000 for the Y2K bug, the Sydney Olympics and an Essendon versus Melbourne AFL grand final, but also that year, a small class at Melbourne's The King David School became the college's first VCE graduates.
MANY will remember the year 2000 for the Y2K bug, the Sydney Olympics and an Essendon versus Melbourne AFL grand final, but also that year, a small class at Melbourne’s The King David School became the college’s first VCE graduates.
Just 15 students completed year 12 at the Armadale school with a choice of 11 subjects. A decade on, 68 will soon sit their final year exams in 31 subjects.
“We are so very, very proud of the achievements and accomplishments of our VCE students over the past 10 years,” principal Michele Bernshaw said.
To mark the milestone, the school will host a function for past students, staff and friends this weekend, aptly organised for the tenth of the tenth 2010.
In addition to the afternoon function, King David has also created a commemorative decade book as part of the celebrations.
The decade celebration will be held on Sunday from 4pm at the school’s Magid Institute. Enquiries: Jackie Ellis (03) 9527 0103.
