Blecher brothers impress in Shield playoffs
Maccabi Athletics Club competed in the Athletics Victoria Shield League Division 5 playoffs last weekend, featuring the best four teams this season.
Although Maccabi’s team was slightly depleted for the playoffs, they were still very competitive, finishing a close third behind Ivanhoe and Williamstown after leading the competition early.
Again, Ben Blecher was the star for Maccabi, accumulating 1,286 points in the 200m, 800m, triple jump and shot put events, followed by his brother David, who earned 624 points in his 200m and shot put events.
Emma de Jong amassed 499 points for her 800m PB (2:16.70), while Asher Grodski improved his 3000m PB by more than 25 seconds, clocking 9:56.90.
In Maccabi’s intra-club competition, Ben Blecher finished the overall winner in both the events and points categories.
