BBYO is an international Jewish teen movement committed to creating a place for all Jewish teens to develop leadership skills.

It also encourages teen involvement in the global Jewish community by dedicating their time to Tikkun Olam and strengthening their Jewish identity.

Launched at B’nai B’rith NSW towards the end of 2019, BBYO Sydney has been growing ever since.

The group is student driven and teenagers take up positions on a board and organise fun and meaningful events for their peers.

During the COVID-19 lockdowns, BBYO Sydney held virtual events with their BBYO counterparts from Ukraine, USA, South Africa, Israel, Russia and Slovenia.

In February 2022, three teens, including Ruby, travelled to Baltimore, in the US, to take part in the BBYO International Convention with 4000 teenagers from all over the world.

The Global Advisory Committee consists of a select, diverse group of teens who will focus on mobilising, strengthening and connecting the BBYO hubs all over the world. They will serve on the committee for a year.

B’nai B’rith NSW president Janine Zimbler said she is “delighted” that Ruby’s talents are being recognised on an international level.
