Meet Mendel Slavin, a student at Yeshiva College, Bondi, whose deft acrobatic skills have won him a place in the finals of Tzivos Hashem’s international Jewish Kids Got Talent competition. Next week, the 13-year-old is jetting off to New York to join other finalists and perform at the organisation’s annual dinner, where the overall winner will be announced. “I’m excited,” said Mendel. “There are some kids out there doing great stuff, but I think I’ve got a chance.”
Mendel’s entry consisted of a three-minute video collage showing him performing a range of stunts, involving free body movement, jumping and leaping.“It gets a bit scary,” he admitted. “If you think it’s going to be scary, then you can’t do it. You have to have a clear mind.”
