CEO to lead Scopus relocation plans
A joint venture between Mount Scopus Memorial College and the Scopus Foundation.
Mount Scopus Memorial College bold plans to relocate to Caulfield Racecourse has been labelled ‘Project Generation’.
The Centre for Jewish Life includes a state-of-the-art school consolidating preschool to year 12, as well as a Jewish community centre; music & performing arts centre; creative arts complex; sports precinct with green open space; wellness centre and centre for adult education.
It has been set up as a separate entity – a joint venture between Mount Scopus Memorial College and the Scopus Foundation – to have its own professional team, board and CEO. Irit Harris was recently appointed as CEO of Project Generation, bringing extensive experience leading large-scale innovation and transformation programs across some of Australia’s largest ASX-listed organisations.

Asked what inspired Harris to take on this role she said, “After October 7, like many in our community, I felt an urgent need to do more – to turn helplessness and fear into action. When Project Generation was announced at the Scopus Foundation gala dinner, it was the first time in a long while that I – and many others – felt a genuine sense of optimism. Amid so much heaviness, this project offered something bold and constructive: an opportunity to create more than buildings – a place of belonging that reflects our values, supports our future, and strengthens Jewish life in Melbourne and Australia for generations to come.”
Regarding how long this project will take Harris said, “We know this will take several years to bring to life, but we are moving with urgency and discipline. While exact timelines will come into sharper focus in the coming months, we currently anticipate that stage 1 will be completed by 2030.”
