After more than 12 years as CEO of the Zionist Federation of Australia (ZFA), Ginette Searle has announced that she will be stepping down from the role later this year.

Searle has been a leader in the Australian Zionist movement for 22 years, working tirelessly to deepen the connections between Australia and the State of Israel.

In her time as ZFA CEO, she has taken the organisation to new heights, providing a role model for the Australian Zionist movement and the global community.

“Working with the ZFA and the Zionist movement in Australia is and has been a tremendous privilege for me,” Searle said.

“This role has really been the job of my heart – merging my professional career for the last two decades with my personal passion and conviction for Israel and the Jewish community.

“I’ll be finishing with gratitude for the opportunities and the support of the leadership, current and past and also with a sense of satisfaction that what I’ve been working on has had impact and meaning.”

ZFA president Jeremy Leibler said, “It is impossible to describe the extent of Ginette’s contribution” to the Zionist movement in Australia.

“She has been at the centre of activity and advocacy to strengthen the relationship between Australian Jewry and the State of Israel,” he said.

“Her legacy will live on through her work to ensure that the next generation of Australian Jews remain invested in and connected to the Jewish homeland and their own Jewish identity.

“Although we bid her farewell from the ZFA with mixed emotions, I have absolutely no doubt that whatever roles Ginette takes on in the future, she will always be a highly valuable member of the Zionist movement.”

The ZFA has appointed Mayers Recruitment to undertake a search for a successor.
