COA Sydney was invited to a attend an exclusive “thank you” morning tea at Parliament House last week by NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, Mark Coure MP and Meals on Wheels.

It was an opportunity to meet other meal services from around NSW all with the same goal – to ensure that not only healthy and delicious meals are delivered to the community, but also loving care and support.

It was also a chance for COA to discuss matters relating to seniors in the community.

MP for Coogee Marjorie O’Neill was one of the ministers who attended the event, while Perrottet took the time to speak to each Meals on Wheels service provider individually.

“One of the great aspects of Australia is our spirit of service,” Perrottet said.

“And one of the great volunteer organisations is Meals on Wheels. Today I had the pleasure to celebrate MOW and to thank their volunteers for the dedicated service they provide to people in our community. The importance of their work cannot be overstated. We are truly blessed to have them.”

Minister for Multiculturalism and Seniors Coure paid tribute to the important community work ahead of National Meals on Wheels day, which takes place at the end of August.

“Meals on Wheels has over 590 organisations, 45,000 volunteers and here in NSW supplying over 45 million meals each and every year,” Coure said.

“They do a great job, certainly a great job for our local community as well.”
