Members of the Sydney Jewish community are invited to run alongside a team from Israeli disability organisation Shalva this Friday, ahead of the Sydney Marathon.

The five-kilometre run through the Sydney CBD begins at 6.30am on August 28 and will be followed by a cool down and light breakfast.

It is being hosted by UIA NSW Young Leadership and Gesher by UIA, together with Zionist Council NSW.

Shalva has operated for more than 30 years, supporting and empowering people with disabilities and their families in Israel. Its participants are running the Sydney Marathon to raise awareness and funds for the children and families the organisation supports.

UIA NSW head of engagement Bec Abraham said the partnership was a living expression of the principle that all Jews are responsible for one another.
