Black Jewish hip-hop artist Doja Cat has taken home four Billboard Music Awards during a triumphant night in Las Vegas.

Cat was nominated for 14 awards, making her the top female finalist for 2022.

Cat, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, was born to a Jewish American mother and a non-Jewish South African father.

While she has gone on record saying that she took a little bit from both of her parents – her father was an actor and dancer on Broadway – she was raised by her mum as her dad wasn’t very present growing up. It was her mum who introduced her to the world of hip-hop.

Cat took home awards for Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Female Artist, Top R&B Album and new category, Top Viral Song.
