Consul General of Canada André François Giroux recently visited Our Big Kitchen, to better understand how the work done in OBK helps to support the vulnerable in Sydney.

Giroux was hosted by Laya and Rabbi Dovid Slavin, whose parents were welcomed to Canada after the war when they were stateless. Canada has a large and active Jewish community with close ties to the Australian Jewish community.

Discussions centred on the ongoing Chabad involvement in Canada, particularly schools and camps for boys and girls. Giroux committed his further involvement in joint projects with OBK going forward.

Meanwhile, last week the NSW Police Force partnered with OBK to compassionately prepare meals for the less fortunate, extending a helping hand to those in need through a shared commitment to community welfare.

“Superintendent Martin Fileman APM and the probationary constables from Sydney City Police Area Command attended Our Big Kitchen. Our newest police officers helped out by cooking nutritious meals for charities and those who are less fortunate. Thank you Rabbi Dr Dovid Slavin for your kind hospitality and for having us,” the Sydney City Police Area Command posted on Facebook.
