THE mens’ singles final of the Victorian Jewish Tennis Championships will be a dream final, with the first and second seeds Paul Arber and Asaf Nagar set to go head-to-head on Sunday.

The final was supposed to take place on Sunday but was postponed due to inclement weather meaning Arber, a former State Grade Player of the Year, and Nagar, a 2010 finalist will have to wait to resume hostilities.

Nagar survived a scare from 16-year-old Arthur Vainbrandt in the quarterfinal. Vainbrandt took the opening set 6-3, before Nagar fought back strongly to take the second 6-1 and the decider in a super tie breaker 10-3.

Nagar went on to defeat Simon Goldberg 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinal to advance.

Top seed Arber had no trouble in his early matches, losing just one game in two matches. Arber then defeated 17-year-old Liam Goldberg 6-4, 6-2 in a high standard semifinal. Liam Goldberg will play off in the Boys 18 and Under singles final this Sunday against Daniel Sneider.

The finals will coincide with the Maccabi Tennis Club’s open day, which will take place between 11am and 3pm immediately followed by the Boys 18 and Under singles final and the men’s final.

Leon Haskin Tennis Centre is at 92 Bignell Road Bentleigh East. Enquires: Paul 0407 828 341; Asaf 0417 301 357;  info@trademarktennis.com.au.
