Eden dancing for the hostages
In a note he thanked his partner Alice, "You are the best, you push me and motivate me and you are one of my best friends."
At the recent 78th Australian Dancesport Championship, nine year old Eden Miller and his dance partner Alice Fu were awarded top prize for the Sub-Juvenile Standard (Traditional) ballroom champions of Australia.
This category is for dancers under the age of 10.
Miller also won the bronze award (third place) in the individual Latin dance competition.
Miller has always loved dancing; it is his passion.
He began ballroom dancing two years ago.
After the first lesson he was hooked and now trains for 11 to 12 hours a week.
“When I try to explain what dancing means to me, I struggle.
“I feel like I am soaring in a song from my soul” he explained.
In a note he thanked his partner Alice, “You are the best, you push me and motivate me and you are one of my best friends.”
Ballroom dancing has very strict rules about what the contestants may wear.
After Miller won the bronze award he showed his mum Deborah the yellow ribbon pin he had on his socks.
“I was dancing for the hostages,” he said.
His dad David Miller said, “We are incredibly proud of him for his discipline, commitment and focus.”
