Faith, Philosophy and October 7
Sam Lebens is Associate Professor at the University of Haifa, an Orthodox Rabbi and highly regarded Jewish educator.
Rabbi Associate Professor Sam Lebens, recently returned as scholar-in-residence at Leibler Yavneh College.
Rabbi Lebens engaged with students in Years 6-12 in a range of formal and informal programs, including tisches with Years 9-12 students, and a shabbat dinner for VCE students and 2020-2022 alumni.
He ran a session for parents on the topic of Faith, Philosophy and October 7.

His events were at capacity and our students gained so much from their classes and events with him.
Our community was excited to have him back as our world is such a different place since his last visit was pre-October 7.
Our staff, students and parents gained a lot from the opportunities to reflect and discuss issues with him.”
The scholar-in-residence program, made possible through generous donations to the Yavneh Foundation, aims to bring to the community authors and thinkers of international acclaim to encourage discussion and debate on contemporary topics.
Sam Lebens is Associate Professor at the University of Haifa, an Orthodox Rabbi and highly regarded Jewish educator.
He has authored books on Bertrand Russell’s evolving theories about the nature of meaning, as well as on the analytic philosophy of Judaism.
Rabbi Lebens is a thought-leader with an engaging manner whose academic interests span the philosophy of religion, metaphysics, epistemology, and language.
