United Israel Appeal Australia has announced that in 2022 its usual one-night general division campaign event will become an epic five-night symposium.

Summit UIA will boast a list of guest speakers famed for their work in TV, politics, sport and media from Sunday, February 27 to Thursday, March 3.

Each night will feature a different theme, ranging from politics to sport.

Highlights include the culture event featuring Shtisel star Shira Haas – the first Israeli actor to have been nominated for a Golden Globe, for her turn in Netflix’s Unorthodox; and the security event featuring Yossi Cohen, former director of Mossad and instrumental negotiator of the Abraham Accords, which brought about the historic normalisation of relations between Israel and the UAE.

Other speakers will include a yet-to-be-announced senior Israeli politician; Olympic medallist Linoy Ashram; Omri Casspi, the first Israeli to play in the NBA; and Israel advocate behind the blog and podcast Israel from the Inside, Daniel Gordis.

The event will stream live, and viewers are invited to join for all or a selection of nights.

“UIA is proud to once again be on the cutting edge of what we offer our community,” said UIA federal president Esther Frenkiel.

“The line-up of speakers we have managed to secure, to be engaged with from the safety and comfort of your own home and with such broad appeal is absolutely unique.”

UIA CEO Yair Miller added, “We look forward to ‘seeing’ you virtually at Summit UIA, which like these past two years, will be different. We know that our supporters value their connection to Israel and our people, so we have found a way to make sure that this is not compromised.

“We trust that our community will come together once again to show solidarity and unwavering support for our brothers and sisters in Israel.”
