FAVOURITE son Andrew Garfield, star of Netflix’s recent Tick, Tick… Boom! will be taking a hard break from his high-energy musical Broadway-style performance to play a haunted, religious detective in FX limited series Under the Banner of Heaven.

According to deadline.com, Garfield will play a Mormon elder whose faith is tested as he investigates a murder in Utah – encountering religious zealotry and anti-government paranoia along the way.

Nu, so he won’t be Jewish, exactly. But we all like to wear a sacred undergarment from time to time … right?

In the teaser, Garfield takes a distinctively sombre tone. But that doesn’t mean the show won’t be entertaining. It’s based on the 2003 book of the same name by Into the Wild author Jon Krakauer, which a Guardian critic named his favourite true crime book, and which

The New York Times called “an arresting portrait of depravity”.

Brian Grazer will exec produce the series, also starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sam Worthington.WITH JTA
