JNF Australia will host a series of events for Green Week 2023 which will support the Israel Life Saving Federation (ILSF)’s Nippers program, promoting safe waters on Israel’s southern coastline.

The week of events in NSW for community members, young adults and seniors kicks off with JNF Australia’s annual Green Sunday telethon on February 12.

The ILSF base their education goals and methodology on those of Surf Life Saving Australia, introducing their Nippers program to the beaches of Ashkelon in Southern Israel with the support of JNF Australia.

Green Sunday’s success is due to the 300 high school students and youth movement volunteers who come together to raise funds on behalf of the JNF,” NSW executive director Justine Williams said.

We encourage the community to answer your phones on Sunday and give generously. Apart from supporting a worthwhile cause, the kids’ excitement when they get a donation is worth every cent!

On the Monday night the JNF NSW Business Forum will host Sinai Gohar Barak, a Negev kibbutznik and ecosystem development manager at DeserTech, in conversation with JNF board member Mark Spiro.

DeserTech is an innovation community in the Negev that promotes the development, adaptation and commercialisation of technology to enable sustainable living in arid climates.

The event will feature Zionist rapper Noah Shufutinsky, also known as Westside Gravy, an artist who fuses his passion for Jewish culture with his lived experience of growing up Black and Jewish, to write and produce hip hop.

A strong Israel advocate, Shufutinsky is also education and outreach manager at StandWithUs.

Hosted by JNFuture, a second event on Thursday night will cater to young adults and will include a performance by Westside Gravy.
