TAU releases annual global annual report on antisemitism
TAU report warns other nations to heed Australia’s ‘alarming’ rise in antisemitism, with 1750 incidents in 2025.
Other countries should learn from Australia’s mistakes and combat antisemitism decisively before tragedy befalls them, Tel Aviv University’s (TAU’s) annual global antisemitism report has warned.
The report, released on Monday, described Australia’s data as “particularly alarming”, with 1750 incidents recorded in 2025 — up from 1,727 in 2024, 1200 in 2023 and 472 in 2022.
“Last year, our report highlighted the dire state of the fight against antisemitism in Australia, and cautioned about its implications,” the report stated.
“This was no prophecy, nor a wild guess. Where minor attacks are dismissed, major ones will ultimately follow, in one way or another.”
Executive Council of Australian Jewry research director Julie Nathan told TAU the Jewish community had been “shocked but not surprised” by the December 14, 2025 Bondi Beach massacre, in which 15 people were murdered.
