Wings of hope

Global art project unites

Wings of Hope is more than just an installation piece or communal project, it is a movement.

Gesher by UIA has announceed the launch of the global art project “Wings of Hope”. This initiative brings people together through creativity, unity and resilience to commemorate the life of Livnat Kutz, and the members of Kibbutz Kfar Aza, who were murdered on October 7, 2023.

Wings of Hope is more than just an installation piece or communal project, it is a movement to inspire hope and solidarity that goes beyond borders and fosters a shared sense of purpose and community.

The initiative calls on individuals to come together to create wings from colourful plastic toys that are no longer being used.

The piece aims to honour Kutz, who began the project before October 7, to symbolise the serenity of Kfar Aza, as well as the sustainability, creativity and a sense of belonging that the kibbutz represented to her.

While Kutz and her family were tragically murdered, her memory, dedication and love for her home and community live on through this project.

“We are excited to be part of this deeply meaningful initiative,” said Gesher engagement manager Bec Abraham.

“Through this project, we hope to inspire individuals to come together, share in the joy of artistic creation, and remember those who have been lost in the most tragic and harrowing of circumstances.

“The wings are not only a symbol of remembrance but also a beacon of hope for the future.”

As the Wings of Hope project spreads around the world, it will serve as a lasting reminder that even in the darkest times, the power of art and unity can uplift communities and inspire rebuilding.

Gesher is calling community members to bring unused plastic toys that fit the palm of your hand to Pita Mix on May 2 between 12 and 2pm. For more information contact Bec Abraham at bec.abraham@uiansw.org.au.
