SIX members of the Jewish community were among the 13 unsung heroes hailed at the Caulfield Volunteer Awards on Monday night.

Organised by Member for Caulfield David Southwick and the Caulfield Park branch of Bendigo Bank, the ceremony at Glen Eira Town Hall celebrated the contribution of local residents to a wide range of groups throughout the neighbourhood.

Recipients included Helen Gelber of Access Inc, Ezra Susskind of Chabad Youth, Avi Susskind of Hatzolah, Gary Mallin of J-AIR, Cynthia Pollak of Jewish Bereaved Parents and Ella Sandler of Netzer.

As well as a framed certificate, each of the 13 volunteers received a $1000 cheque for their respective community group.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of community and these awards acknowledge the selflessness, passion and wonderful work of Caulfield’s community organisations,” said Southwick.
