LAST Sunday’s Mardi Gras Fair Day “was an exciting and fun day, filled with so much warmth and energy,” said Dayenu president Jonathan David.

“After Fair Day was cancelled last year due to COVID, and the lockdowns and restrictions we endured over the past two years, it was a delight to see everyone,” he said.

“I felt a wondrous feeling of community when I was able to speak with familiar members of our group, as well as Jews and LGBTQ individuals who were meeting us for the first time, and older members reconnecting with us after many years.

“We were also seated next to the Sydney Queer Muslims community stall, which I loved because I got to catch up with the leaders and members of that group, adding an awesome interfaith element on the day.”

The stall, which was coordinated by Dayenu committee member Luc Davaine, sold T-shirts, wristbands and badges, and gave away a hamper worth more than $250.

Dayenu – Sydney’s Jewish LGBTIQ+ group – will hold a Mardi Gras Shabbat dinner at Emanuel Synagogue on March 4, before participating in the Mardi Gras Parade on March 5.
