The Western Sydney Wanderers had a tough first half of the A-League Men’s season.

But their dominant 2-0 victory last Saturday night, at home in Parramatta’s CommBank Stadium versus arch-rivals Sydney FC, have given their players, and fans, some hope.

The Red and Black’s first goal was scored by their leading striker, Israeli Tomer Hemed, who calmly booted a 37th minute penalty.

Hemed, through clever positional play, then forced a corner, which paved the way for their second goal, headed in by Keanu Baccus.

The post-match celebrations by the Wanderers’ players, when interacting with their loyal fans, were full of vigour, showing there is still plenty of spirit in the club this season.

The Wanderers face the Rams this Saturday night in Macarthur.

Meanwhile, Hemed is continuing his charitable work for the community in Sydney.

This Sunday afternoon, he will head to Central Synagogue in Bondi to join other volunteers in packing gifts for children in hospital this Purim.
