UIA is hosting two veterans of the Yom Kippur War in commemoration of its 50th anniversary – Brig. Gen. Ret. Avigdor Kahalani and Major General (res.) Uzi Dayan – on two webinars on 19 September.

During the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Brig. Gen. Ret. Avigdor Kahalani commanded an Armoured Battalion in the Valley of Tears on the Golan Heights on Israel’s Northern Border. For his courageous role, he was awarded the IDF’s highest decoration – the Medal of Valour.

After Major General (res.) Uzi Dayan was inducted into the IDF in 1966, he fought in the Six-Day War, the War of Attrition (1969-l971) and the 1973 Yom Kippur War, where he was a company commander.

He went on to serve as Israel’s national security advisor between 2000 and 2002, head of the IDF Planning Branch, head of Central Command and deputy chief of staff. After leaving active military service, Dayan served as a member of Knesset, representing the Likud Party.

Both guests will join UIA online on Tuesday, September 19. Brig. Gen. Ret. Avigdor Kahalani will feature as a guest on the regular Israel Update at 1.30pm AEST while Major General (res.) Uzi Dayan will join a special evening webinar at 7.30pm AEST.

UIA’s online Israel Updates include a unique analysis of the latest events in Israel by NSW Shlicha and executive director Jasmine Malul, Victoria Shaliach and executive director Daniel Tuksar and CEO Yair Miller, along with audience Q&A.

Register for both webinars at uiaaustralia.org.au/upcoming-events.
