On 22 July, the Pre-Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague approved a joint submission from AIJAC and a trio of independent Australian academic experts.

This submission will contest the issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.

AIJAC and the academic experts will present arguments challenging the ICC’s authority on several grounds: lack of jurisdiction, insufficient evidence for arrest, procedural inadmissibility, and perceived prosecutorial bias.

This permission to submit amicus curiae observations was also extended to 70 other countries, organisations, and individuals. These observations must be filed with the court by 6 August.
