Israeli security forces are still searching communities in southern Israel for Palestinian terrorists who infiltrated from Gaza early Saturday morning during an unprecedented attack on Israel.

An unspecified number of terrorists have been captured or killed by security forces and others, with some making their way back to Gaza with captives, among them women, children, and elderly people.

Footage aired on Israel’s Channel 12 shows forces sweeping areas in Sderot and surrounding communities, as well as main thoroughfares searching for infiltrators.

Hostages in Kibbutz Be’eri and Ofakim were rescued by security forces earlier, and a police station in Sderot that was overrun by terrorists was cleared overnight, with 10 gunmen killed, according to authorities.

The IDF said it struck the home of the head of Hamas’s intelligence in the Gaza Strip.

The IDF says the home was used as military infrastructure by the terror group.

Meanwhile, the Hezbollah terror group claims responsibility for the mortar fire on Sunday from Lebanon at northern Israel.

In a statement, the terror group said it targeted three Israeli military sites in the contested Mount Dov region.

The IDF did not report any injuries, and said it responded with artillery strikes.

The IDF said it carried out a drone strike against “Hezbollah infrastructure” in the area.

According to a military source, the site was a tent the terror group set up in Israeli territory months ago.

“The IDF has been taking preparational measures for this type of possibility and will continue to operate in all regions and at any time necessary to ensure the safety of the Israeli civilians,” the military said in a statement.

Hezbollah has largely sat out previous rounds of fighting between Israel and Palestinian terror groups, only turning a blind eye to local factions operating out of its territory in southern Lebanon.
