Inaugural bat mitzvah fair set for October

The National Council of Jewish Women Australia NSW (NCJWA NSW) will hold its inaugural bat mitzvah fair on Sunday, October 11, at an eastern suburbs location from 10am to 1pm.

The fair will bring together synagogues, learning programs, volunteering initiatives and simcha suppliers, with more than 40 exhibitors expected to take part. It is described by organisers as Sydney’s first event dedicated specifically to bat mitzvah planning, and is aimed at parents at the start of organising their daughter’s celebration.

NCJWA NSW president Nathalie Samia said the idea for the fair came from her own experience planning her daughter’s bat mitzvah.

“I remember wondering where to start when I was planning my daughter’s bat mitzvah, with so many different possibilities to consider,” Samia said.

“So we wanted to make that process easier for other families by bringing together a wealth of useful information and guidance, as well as our community’s best simcha suppliers, all in one place. We want every family to feel supported to plan a bat mitzvah that truly reflects their daughter and their Jewish values.”
