Interfaith network visits St Kilda Shule

The Interfaith Network of Greater Dandenong recently visited St Kilda Shule to learn about Judaism and the tree synagogue structure.
Paris Sard, community education officer at the interfaith network, said, “We were honoured to visit the St Kilda Hebrew Congregation, where we were warmly welcomed by Rabbi Yaakov.”
Sard remarked that the tours, which included both school groups and public participants, were an enriching experience for everyone.
The Network participants and tour guides were deeply impressed by the insights and knowledge shared during the visit.
“Each person left with a greater understanding of the Jewish faith and a profound appreciation for the community’s openness and hospitality. We all value these opportunities to foster learning and connection between different faiths, and the visit to the shule was a perfect example of this mission in action,” Sard added.
Having travelled to Dandenong multiple times over the years to represent Judaism at numerous panels, Rabbi Glasman said, “It was wonderful to finally be able to welcome a group from the Interfaith Network of Greater Dandenong to St Kilda.
“Not only did the participants … learn more about Judaism as a faith, but I was also able to showcase one of Australia’s most beautiful and iconic synagogues where I have the privilege of working every day.”
The Network of Greater Dandenong is the first established interfaith network in Australia and consists of various traditional and multi-faith groups. Their goal is to promote understanding and respect for each other’s beliefs by living together in peace and goodwill.
