It’s chocolate, it’s Vegemite … it’s kosher!

Well, now you can enjoy your Vegemite with Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate … and to top it off, it’s kosher!
The news that Cadbury’s limited edition Vegemite block has been approved by Victoria’s Kosher Australia kashrut certification agency sent social media into a spin last week, attracting mixed reactions.
“Approved for kashrut perhaps, but has it been approved for consumption?” asked one poster on Facebook. “I tried it and survived it,” wrote another, while a third was in disbelief about the product, asking, “Is this a joke?”
Kosher Australia general manager Yankel Wajsbort said after posting the news on its Facebook page, it had a reach of almost 15,000, “which equates to 10 per cent of the entire Jewish population of Australia!”
“Whenever we are able to add to the kosher range of products, we are excited. After all, that’s what Kosher Australia exists for,” he told The AJN.
