Australia’s only Jewish community radio station, J-AIR 88FM launched its new studios in St Kilda on Sunday.

Josh Burns, federal MP for Macnamara, David Southwick, Deputy Opposition Leader in Victoria, and Victorian Senator James Patterson formally opened the studios together. JCCV vice-president Doron Abramovici, was also in attendance.

In thanking the politicians J-AIR chair Jim Cyngler noted that each of them had been forthright in advocating for J-AIR obtaining a community broadcast licence, despite their political differences.

“It’s great to have strong support for our station and acknowledgement of the importance J-AIR plays in the community,” he said.

“A full community broadcast licence will allow us to reach a far broader audience.

Cyngler told The AJN, “J-AIR plays a vital role in promoting the wide range of community activities with a variety of show formats.”

The new studios are equipped with two broadcast studios and a separate recording studio for producing podcasts and other pre-recorded material.

“It is important that the community supports J-AIR as we build this new studio as a step in our goal to become a multi-media hub,” Cyngler said.

“You can become a J-AIR member with a simple click on our website.”

As the station marks over 10 years of broadcasting, the new studios are the beginning of what is set to be an exciting year for J-AIR.
