JEWISHCARE’S disability programs JDay and Our Kitchen Hand are launching a new program – Market Stall.

Market Stall kicked off on Thursday, December 9 at the Bondi Junction Oxford Street Mall.

The stall will run for three weeks prior to Christmas and will stock gifts and goodies appropriate for all occasions – end of year presents for teachers, delicious treats, Christmas gifts, jewellery and more.

It will resume trading again weekly after Australia Day.

The initiative has been supported by both Waverley Council – who provided a plot within their community garden to grow produce – and Woollahra Council, who provided a Revitalisation Grant for the market stall as well as JewishCare’s Gardening Project.

Bunnings have donated plants and some equipment for the project.

All participants in JewishCare’s JDay and Our Kitchen Hand programs create goods for the stall and those involved in Thursday programs have the opportunity to participate in running the stall.

“This is such a great way to bring to fruition what people have learned in the programs,” said Nicki Taitz, JDay coordinator, JewishCare Disability Services.

“It’s also involving them face to face with the community and showcasing their skills that they’ve developed.”

The community is encouraged to visit the stall and support JewishCare and the JDay and Our Kitchen Hand participants in this program fostering an entrepreneurial spirit.
